= Why ب? =

The letter ب (ba) is the Arabic equivalent of the Latin 'b' and the Greek β (beta). All three writing systems derived this letter from the ancient Canaanite/Sinaitic 'Bayt' ('house' in Arabic today). The symbol chosen to represent this letter was based on the Kemetic Heiroglyph (Medu Neter) for a house.<ref>https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proto-Sinaitic_script</ref>
