The Permian Basin also known as the most prolific oil and gas field is located in West Texas and Southeast New Mexico and has been critical to the ongoing oil, gas, and petrochemical boom in the South. It is also considered a great example of environmental injustice and it is expected to become the world's largest source of climate pollution by 2030.
