The We Mean Business Coalition is a group of seven nonprofit organizations:

BSR / CDP / CERES / CLG Europe / Climate Group / The B Team / and the WBCSD

seeking to "accelerate the inclusive transition to a global net-zero economy" by working with the world's most influential businesses.[1]

In February 2023, the WMBC's Deputy Director of Nature-Based Solutions published an article in Reuters minimizing the extent of greenwashing uncovered the previous month in the voluntary carbon market, specifically Verra's avoided deforestation credits.[2]

The article failed to disclose that Verra was not only incubated by one of the WMBC's members (Climate Group), it is also a current member of The Natural Climate Solutions Alliance, which is convened by the World Economic Forum along with another WMBC member, the WBCSD.

Instead, it promoted as "the good news" the work of another NCSA member - Sylvera - and the NCSA's upcoming "buyer's guide" as a way of ensuring "due diligence" in carbon credit purchases. Major polluters belonging to the NCSA include British Petroleum, Equinor, Nestle, Shell Oil, and Weyerhaeuser.
