Techstars Accelerator
In a 2020 blogpost, Regen Network Development described how the Regen Network's initial userbase originated from its incubation by The Nature Conservancy:
During the Techstars and Nature Conservancy Sustainability Accelerator, farmers and land stewards expressed interest in our platform by registering over 177 farmers on 4.7 million acres of farm and conservation lands with our system.[1]
This figure (4.7M acres / 177 farmers) equates to more than 25,000 acres of land per farmer registered.
Murdoch Development
The Network's first pilot program was conducted in collaboration with Impact Ag and Wilmot Cattle Company, two Australian companies owned and managed by the Murdoch family. This collaboration formed the basis of the remote sensing soil carbon measurement methodology underlying RND's CarbonPlus Grasslands ecocredits:
Through our Pilot Project with Impact Ag and Wilmot Cattle Company’s holistically-grazed grasslands in Australia, we have found a high positive correlation between soil organic carbon (SOC) and Sentinel-2 bands.
This development was cited by RND Inc in 2020 as having inspired the Savory Institute which is seeking to "reduce costs for verification"[2]. RND's goal in working with Impact Ag, Wilmot, and the Savory Institute on remote sensing is to "automate this verification and quantification process to significantly reduce the cost of MRV" and thus "truly enable scaling the market" for credits based on the Savory Method.[3]
By their own admission, RND's method of remote sensing cannot measure soil carbon underneath tree canopy or below-surface soil carbon. Their program to automate and scale up the accrediation of the Savory Method thus actively dis-incentivizes far more effective methods of building both soil carbon and above ground biomass carbon: reforestation and biochar.[4]
Osmosis Launch
Regen Network and Osmosis have been working together since the launch of Osmosis. Regen Network performed the first Liquidity Bootstrapping Pool Launch on Osmosis, just weeks after Osmosis’ own launch. Regen Network allocated 1.39mm REGEN to the Osmosis Community Pool in a protocol-to-protocol transfer (approximately 1.3% of Regen Network’s token supply at the time of transfer)[5]
Cosmos ZERO
Cosmos ZERO is a project to make the Cosmos blockchain ecosystem carbon-neutral, led by Regen Network Development and the Interchain Foundation.<https://medium.com/regen-network/cosmos-zero-a-cosmos-ecosystem-carbon-neutral-quest-57df72caf354>
It is premised on using tokenized carbon credits to offset the emissions of Cosmos blockchain protocols. Footprint estimates of Cosmos protocols were calculated by Regen Network Development.[6]
RND's currently recommended portfolio for offsetting emissions is 80% Nature Carbon Ton ($NCT) on the Osmosis Decentralized Exchange and 20% City Forest Credits on the Regen Marketplace.[7]
Cosmos protocols which have passed offsetting proposals using Nature Carbon Ton ($NCT) include:
